Community Acupuncture was actually started in Portland, OR by the founders of Working Class Acupuncture. It was born out of the desire of acupuncturists to bring healing to as many people as possible. Realizing that time and money were the most often cited barriers to receiving the frequent treatment, they devised a structure that allowed for simple treatments at a lower cost, while still allowing acupuncturists to earn a living wage.
We're proud to bring this approach to acupuncture to Body of Work Wellness and the Beaverton/Hillsboro area!
While we believe that it is important to receive at least occasional Private Acupuncture Treatments, utilizing our Community Acupuncture option is a great way to save $$ while still getting a great treatment!
When you come in for your Community Acupuncture session, you may go directly to the large treatment room at the end of the long hallway and find an open seat in one of our four comfortable Zero-Gravity Chairs (there will be waiting chairs available if they are all full). If Hara is not in the room, she will be there shortly, with a cup of our delicious non-caffeinated relaxing Herbal Tea, ready to begin your treatment. There may be others relaxing in their own chairs during treatment and quiet voices are encouraged when entering.
Feel free to bring Headphones and listen to your favorite calming music or meditation (we can suggest some if you like), or you can melt into your chair while you listen to our sound system. As with all of Hara’s treatments, Gentle and Non-Needle options are available.
At approximately 45 minutes long, a Community Acupuncture is a shorter session than our Private Treatments. You also have the option to add a Mini-Cosmetic Acupuncture Treatment and/or a Custom Therapeutic Herbal Footbath for deeper unwinding and a boost to your Health and Beauty.
Community Acupuncture is perfect between private treatments for continued pain relief or progress on a chronic condition. It's also a great option if you need a prevention boost during cold or allergy season or occasional stress-relief.
If you have never experienced an Acupuncture Session with Hara, go ahead and book a New Patient Private Session- this is the time where Hara will evaluate your specific needs and tell you how often and at what frequency to book follow up treatments. If you are an established patient, you can always book a Community Acupuncture session online or by calling (503) 290-6636.
This blog is a combined effort of practitioners to keep you informed.
